Insurance Requirements

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Change in Student Health Insurance

The New Jersey law requiring students to present proof of medical insurance was modified and took effect in July 2013. The law provides New Jersey college students with the freedom to choose their health insurance plan rather than having an institution of higher education mandate a specific policy and premium if they have no other coverage either individually or through their parents.

Effective fall semester 2014, Stockton University was no longer providing a student health insurance plan through the College; however, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a federal law effective January 1, 2014, requires individuals to have health care insurance coverage or be subject to a penalty.

Individuals who are eligible to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan can enroll in a plan in the Marketplace.  For information about the health care law, finding health insurance options, and accessing the health insurance marketplace offerings, please visit healthcare.gov.
