Dean's Student Leadership Board

The Dean's Student Leadership Board is a selected committee made up of Majors from the School of Arts and Humanities' Academic Programs. It is an opportunity for students to gain administrative and leadership skills, participate in career mentoring opportunities, and be the voice for students in ARHU.

 

The Fall 2023 Dean's Student Leadership Board Applications are closed. Interview invitations will be emailed the week of October 30, 2023.

About the Dean's Student Leadership Board

The Dean's Student Leadership Board is a selected committee made up of Majors from the School of Arts and Humanities' Academic Programs. It is an opportunity for students to gain administrative and leadership skills, participate in career mentoring opportunities, and be the voice for students in ARHU.

Students who are invited to participate on the Dean's Student Leadership Board will fulfill leadership roles at ARHU related events, learn from professionals within ARHU and the Arts and Humanities field, and prepare to be a leader in their field of study/industry following graduation.

As a member of the Dean's Student Leadership Board, selected individuals will be expected to attend 2-3 meetings per semester, and represent their program at select University-wide events each semester.

 

Application & Interview Process

  1. Application

    Students must complete the Dean's Student Leadership Board application. Applications for Fall 2023 are due October 23, 2023, 11:59 pm.

  2. Interview (by invitation only)

    Applications will be reviewed within one week following the application deadline. Interviews will occur the week following the application review on an invitation basis. Interview invites will be sent via email and recipients will be asked to respond within 48 hours.

  3. Accept seat on DSLB

    If offered a seat on the Dean's Student Leadership Board, accept the offer and mark your calendar with the upcoming meeting dates.
  1. Basic Information. Name, contact information, and demographics.
  2. One faculty/staff reference. One additional faculty/staff reference may be added, but is not necessary.
  3. Personal Statement. How does having a background in the arts and humanities help you to play a role in leadership? Maximum of 400 words.
  4. Academic Resume. This resume can include, but is not limited to, academic standing, extra-curricular activities, other leadership roles on campus, work experience (on and off campus), skills and/or interests. Please include your current GPA (this will be verified during the application review).

Once offered and accepted a seat on the Dean's Student Leadership Board, students may remain on the board until graduation, with the exception of extenuating circumstances.
