At Stockton, our graduate accounting curriculum dives deep into advanced accounting concepts, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the CPA exam and beyond. With experiential learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom, you'll gain practical experience and master the critical concepts essential for success in today's accounting profession.

Curriculum

Complete both a B.S and M.S. in Accounting in just 5 years.

The program requires the completion of 36 graduate credits, 12 of which substitute for 3 undergraduate courses in the BS Accounting curriculum (BSNS 4112, ACCT 3430, and ACCT 4130).

The 12 graduate accounting credits courses count toward both the B.S and M.S. degrees, providing an accelerated path to completion. The MSAC curriculum includes core accounting courses, internships, and specialized electives.

Core Courses (18 credits):

  • Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting
  • Advanced Auditing and Attestation
  • Accounting Information Systems
  • Advanced Federal Income Taxation
  • Advanced Cost Accounting and Analytics
  • Accounting Internship (can be fulfilled with a service-learning experience or an accounting research project)

Electives: (18 credits)

Option 1: Complete 18 credits from the following:

  1. Forensic Accounting Concentration (9 credits)
  2. Business Analytics Concentration (9 credits)
  3. Extended Accounting Internship (9 credits)
  4. Any combination of courses and internships from a, b, and c above.

Careers

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects annual employment growth from 2021 to 2031 for accountants and auditors at 5.6%.

BLS also compares earnings and employment rates by level of educational attainment. The 2022 reveals that those holding a master’s degree earn approximately 16% more than those with a bachelor's degree and the unemployment rate is lower for those with master’s degrees as well.
