Program Evaluation & Economics

Stockton University is committed to data-informed decision-making that supports academic excellence, student success, and long-term sustainability. As part of this commitment, we have partnered with Gray Decision Intelligence (Gray DI), a comprehensive analytics platform designed to help higher education institutions evaluate and enhance their academic program portfolios. Gray DI provides tools to assess market demand, student outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with institutional goals.
By using Gray DI, Stockton aims to ensure that its academic offerings remain responsive to student needs, regional workforce trends, and institutional resources. The platform enables faculty, staff, and leadership to make informed, transparent, and strategic decisions about academic programs by bringing together reliable data and clear visualizations. Ultimately, Gray DI supports our ongoing efforts to strengthen academic planning, foster innovation, and promote a sustainable future for Stockton University.

Annual Report Trainings
This session will walk participants through the use of Gray DI in the preparation of Annual Reports, while also introducing the updated reporting process in HelioCampus. As we transition to completion of the Annual Report in HelioCampus, the training will demonstrate how Gray DI can be used to support the data-driven sections of the report (e.g., enrollment, retention, and other program metrics), how reports will be generated, and what changes programs can expect this year. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of expectations, timelines, and how the two systems work together to support meaningful reporting.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify key updates to this year’s Annual Report process and timeline, including the transition to HelioCampus as the reporting platform.
- Locate and interpret relevant Gray DI data for use in Annual Reports.
- Use Gray DI data to analyze data-driven sections of the Annual Report.
- Thursday, April 2nd 2:00-3:00 p.m.
- Monday, May 4th2:30-3:30 p.m.

Gray DI Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Gray DI is a strategic analytics platform designed specifically for higher education. It helps institutions make data-informed decisions by combining internal and external data to evaluate academic programs, identify opportunities for growth, and improve resource allocation.
Stockton is implementing Gray DI to support integrated planning, improve academic program analysis, and strengthen institutional effectiveness. The tool enables more informed decisions by providing access to real-time data on program performance, labor market trends, enrollment patterns, and financial sustainability.
Gray DI is primarily used by academic leadership, program chairs, deans, and administrators involved in strategic planning, academic review, and resource management. Over time, additional users may be trained as the platform becomes more integrated into institutional processes.
Access to Gray DI is currently available to academic leadership, deans, program chairs, and select administrative users. If you’ve been granted access, you will receive an email with login instructions directly from the Gray DI system. The platform is web-based and does not require any software installation.
The platform includes a blend of internal institutional data (enrollment, credit hours, cost/revenue) and external data (labor market demand, job postings, demographic trends, competitor offerings) to provide a comprehensive view of program performance.
Institutional data is refreshed annually, typically in August, starting with the fall term, followed by spring and summer as those records become available. Market data is updated periodically, based on the release schedules of national data sources.
Data is validated by both Gray Associates, Stockton’s Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness, and Stockton's Gray DI Implementation Team before being made available to users.
Please contact Stockton's Gray DI Core Team with specific concerns so the data can be investigated and confirmed for accuracy.
Gray DI provides dashboards and scorecards that help users:
-
Identify high-potential program opportunities
-
Assess program enrollment and market demand
-
Evaluate cost-effectiveness and sustainability
-
Compare Stockton’s offerings with regional competitors
Yes, additional trainings are scheduled periodically. Upcoming dates will be announced via email and posted on this page.
