Baccalaureate Child Welfare Education Program

The Baccalaureate Child Welfare Education Program (BCWEP) is a partnership of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, a consortium of twelve accredited baccalaureate social work programs in New Jersey (led by Stockton University), and the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. As part an overall effort to transform the state child welfare system with a more professionally educated staff that produces better outcomes for New Jersey children and their families, this program helps students with generalist social work education and additional coursework in child welfare to enter professional positions in New Jersey public child welfare agencies.
The Masters Child Welfare Education Program

The Masters Child Welfare Education Program (MCWEP) is a partnership of the New Jersey Department of Children and Families and a consortium of four New Jersey MSW programs— Monmouth University, Ramapo College, Rutgers University, and Stockton University. With Stockton University as the consortium’s Lead Institution, the program offers current Division of Child Protection and Permanency supervisors the opportunity to strengthen their skills in clinical social work practice and supervision, obtain an advanced credential in social work (MSW), and ultimately to enhance the capacity of the Division to deliver the highest quality services to the vulnerable children and families that it serves.
Child Welfare Concentration
A concentration in child welfare is available to social work majors considering a professional career in services to children and families.
Students electing the concentration in child welfare, in addition to the core requirements for the social work major, must complete SOWK 3650 Topics in Child Welfare, SOWK 3670 Child Welfare Services and Practice, and have their senior practicum work in a child welfare agency.
