Why would you encourage a fellow student to go to the Career Center?
Most students may not be aware of the many resources available at the Career Center. During my time at Stockton, I utilized all the Career Center services such as career and internship fairs, workshops and information sessions. I received tips on improving my resumé, looked for jobs within my career interests, and collected information on work opportunities. I would encourage fellow students to take advantage of the resources at the Career Center. Stockton’s Career Center is here to help - so don't be afraid to visit!
Was there a certain staff member at the Career Center that made an impact on your experience?
I constantly set up appointments with Dayna DeFiore to reach out for advice and discuss job search strategies. I wish to say thank you, Ms. DeFiore, for all your assistance.
What resources at the Career Center did you find most helpful?
I found the career prep workshop and an interview information session to perfect my resumé and get some interview practice helpful. Also, joining the alumni-in-residence or the employer-in-residence event to network provided me with valuable information about prospective career paths.
What are your career/professional goals?
I developed strong organization skills and learned the importance of working as part of a team at Stockton. My career goal is to enter the accounting industry and I hope to grow in this professional field.
Extracurricular activities:
For my extra-curricular activities, I am an active student ambassador in the community. I wrote posts for the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA). My blog topics include “Reflection on the Impact of a Scholarship” and “Lesson Learned at the NJCPA Convention & Expo” which are featured on the NJCPA website. I participated in a Model United Nations Conference as a delegate for Stockton’s Model United Nations and advanced my leadership ability by coordinating campus events with E-board members for the Accounting and Finance Society. I was invited to be a member of the New Jersey Collegiate Business Administration Association (NJCBAA), Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), Golden Key International and Omicron Delta Kappa National leadership (ODK) honor societies. I serve as a student advisory board member and an accounting lab assistant for the School of Business, as well being a peer mentor for Stockton University’s Student Success Scholars Program (formerly known as the CARE program).
