Local Winners of Axelrod Awards
Atlantic, Cape May, Gloucester County awardees recognized

POMONA, NJ The Holocaust Resource Center at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey announced the local winners of Honey and Maurice Axelrod Awards given to educators who have made outstanding contributions in teaching the Holocaust and Genocide, and to others who are continuing their education in the field of bias, bigotry and prejudice reduction.
The Axelrod Award is supported by the Axelrod family, who, for over 15 years, has provided financial awards to educators who have demonstrated excellence in these areas.
In Atlantic County, the winners were Evelyn Herron from Absecon School District and Beth Perlman from Mullica Township School District. In Gloucester County, Lisa Coia, of the Washington Township School District, was recognized. Cape May County awardees were Dr. James Burke, principal, and Tammi Pittaro, teacher, both of Upper Township Elementary School.
