The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey faculty and staff responded in record-breaking fashion to the recent New Jersey State Employee Charitable Campaign. Stocktons still incomplete figure of $42,300 represents a 33 percent increase over last years $31,700 total, according to campaign officials.

This is a phenomenal result during difficult economic times, said John Emge, Executive Director of United Way of Atlantic County. All of the folks at Stockton are to be congratulated.

Stockton President Herman J. Saatkamp lauded the efforts of campaign co-chairs Arthur A. Davis, Jr., Executive Director, Administrative Services; Kenneth Harrison, Professor of Economics; and assistant campaign coordinator Yubi Pena, Administrative Services.

The effort that went into this campaign was remarkable, Dr. Saatkamp said. Art, Ken and Yubi conducted numerous meetings, held a wonderful kick-off breakfast and followed-up with e-mails and phone calls. The results of this campaign were achieved through a lot of old-fashioned hard work.

Davis said another aspect which helped the campaign was an attempt to personalize it as much as possible.

At several presentations we showed employees how their gifts had made a positive impact on the lives of local people, Davis said. In several cases, there were people involved that our employees knew personally. I think it helps a great deal to know that your donations are really helping make a difference in peoples lives. That was the message we were trying to convey.
