Galloway Twp. The Xi-Rho Chapter, Kappa Sigma Fraternity at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will host its Fifth Annual Polar Plunge for charity on March 5, 2006.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Spread the Magic Foundation, a local organization that performs magic shows for children who are suffering from cancer, and raises money to fund research to find a cure for childhood cancer.
Participants will gather at the north end of Brigantine beach at 9:45 a.m. and plunge into the frigid water at 10:00 a.m. There is no registration fee, but participants are asked to gain sponsorship or simply make donations at the time of the event.
We are a small, but proud continuing tradition here at the College, said Steven Couras, Chair of the plunge event. Last year we donated more than $1,000 to tsunami relief. Most of the money was donated by students, local businesses, friends and family members at Stockton.
Couras said the group has set a goal of $2,000 for this years event.
All tax deductible donations may be made payable to Kappa Sigma Fraternity and may be sent to the Office of Student Development, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Richard Stockton College, P.O. Box 195, Pomona NJ 08240.
For more information, Couras may be reached at (609) 626-3500, ext. 2239.
