VDI is the practice of running a desktop operating system on a centralized server allowing remote connections to campus resources and software from the comfort of your personal machine anywhere there is access to an Internet connection.

The Office of Information Technology Services maintains a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) available for use by students and employees.


Choose the VDI platform based on your software and access needs:

 

App Stream

App Stream provides access to applications commonly found in our campus labs. App Stream can be accessed and fully utilized through any modern web browser from an assortment of devices including Windows, Mac, Chromebooks, and Linux PCs. This is the preferred platform for Faculty & Students.
 

When to use the App Stream VDI:

You need access to applications commonly found in our campus labs. These include:

  • SPSS (contact ITS for other install options)
  • MATLAB
  • ArcGIS
  • Microsoft Office
  • Maple
  • Visible Analyst
  • Programming applications
  • Course applications

Horizon View

Horizon View provides remote access to specialized lab applications found in campus computer labs that are dedicated to specific courses. Horizon View can be accessed and fully utilized through any modern web browser on any device.

When to use the Horizon View VDI:

This remote desktop is only available to students who require access to the following applications:

  • Computer science specific courses.

Faculty & Staff Specialized Access

Remote access for Faculty and Staff to University enterprise planning resources. Faculty and Staff remote desktops can be accessed and fully utilized through any modern web browser on any device.

When to use the Faculty Staff Access:

You are a Stockton staff or faculty member that needs access to:

  • Shared Drives
  • Discoverer
  • Banner
  • Acrobat Pro
