The Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University will be hosting a free two day seminar for educators, grades 4 - 12 and college. The Yad Vashem Educator Seminar will be held on Stockton's campus on July 25th and 26th, 2017. The seminar presenters will be Shani Lourie, Pedagogical Instructor from Yad Vashem and Dr. Robert Rozett, Director of the Libraries at Yad Vashem. Dr. Rozett is a scholar and author of many books and articles about the Holocaust and the lessons for today. The cost for educators is free and overnight accommodations are available.

 

Topics to be presented at the seminar include: 

  • What is the Holocaust, how did it happen, and how do we teach it?

  • The Holocaust and other genocides

  • Perpetrators

  • Life in the shadow of death: Jewish leadership and cultural life in the ghettos

  • Using primary sources: The Auschwitz Album and other documents and photographs
