Academic Plan

Stockton University’s Division of Academic Affairs seeks to support future growth opportunities while maintaining a firm commitment to the rich academic traditions and interdisciplinary nature of our liberal arts, sciences and professional studies programs.

In that effort, the Division’s Academic Plan aims to play a crucial role in guiding Schools, Programs, and Departments in connecting objectives to Stockton’s institutional themes of Inclusive Student Success, Diversity and Inclusion, and Teaching and Learning.

The Academic Plan includes four principal aims:

  • To provide multiple opportunities and modalities to incorporate Stockton's 10 Essential Learning Outcomes.
  • To support and reward ongoing, effective assessment practices to guide evidence-based decision-making and to enhance teaching and learning
  • To maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development efforts, including activities that improve teaching and learning, provide for curriculum development, and support collaboration, research, and outreach.
  • To develop, deliver, and continuously assess academic programs to meet the needs of our current and future students.

The Academic Plan was developed initially in the Summer 2014 through collaborative efforts of more than 120 faculty and staff from throughout the institution. The Plan initially summarized of the study teams’ work, connecting it to Stockton’s four 2020 strategic themes. The Plan is continuously updated to provide a framework for the progress of assessment of each institutional theme.

The Academic Plan was updated in 2019 to support the University's Strategic Plan 2025 - Choosing our Path and the six key areas of focus.
